Wispy Elbow Orchid
Description:
Arthrochilus prolixusSexually-deceptive. The duped male wasp attempts to mate with the fluffy lure at the top of the flower; the labellum. This part is hinged and the weight of the pollinator draws it downwards where the insect comes in contact with the column to donate or receive a package of pollen.
