Hemizonia congesta is a wildflower native to parts of California as well as southwestern Oregon. In California it occurs in the North Coast Ranges, west and central California Central Valley and central western California.
With a common name of Hayfield tarweed, this annual species attains a height between 10 and 80 centimeters. Stems are simple below, but branched above. The leaves are typically linear to narrowly elliptic, entire to sparsely dentate. Inflorescences feature heads that are solitary or occurring in small groups.
