Description: English: Two Bivalvia of the genus Tivela in the Brazilian coasts: Tivela zonaria (Lamarck, 1818); in the past named Tivela ventricosa (Gray, 1838)

The first (the shell in the left) has a bigger shell and normally has a brownish transversal stripes or zigzag pattern on his back; the second has the shell less angular and a series of crossed lines; but both varying a lot and including individuals without such markings or completely white. Approximate dimensions of 3.5 centimeters, from the edge of the shell to the umbo (length), for the two specimens. Dimensões aproximadas de 3.5 centímetros, da borda da concha para o umbo (comprimento), para os dois espécimes.
