Macronucleus and micronucleus
Description :
Ventral view of the large hypotrich ciliate, Euplotes eurystomus (Wrześniowski, 1870) stained with methyl green-pyronin. The macronucleus and micronucleus appear green-blue here. The macronucleus is 3 shaped. A small spherical micronucleus sits in a shallow notch at the anterior left edge of the macronucleus. The macronucleus assumes a reverse C-shape prior to division. Collected from a freshwater aquaculture pond near Boise, Idaho. DIC.
