(Canis giganticus aquaticus). This beast was the largest dog I have EVER seen and had just been retrieving tennis balls from the intracoastal waterway. Time slowed down like a scene from The Matrix. As I lined up the shot, I could hear the dog's owner shout "Look Out!" as the monster charged me. Finding a lull in the stiff West wind, and a trough in the vibrations from the approaching beast's dinner plate sized paws, I squeezed the shutter button. Then simultaneously, in a fraction of a second, I tucked the camera into my chest and turned my back to the beast who performed a drive-by slurping, turned, skidded to a stop and shook 5 gallons of muddy saltwater into the air and onto my back. The owner apologized but there was no harm done to the camera or my front side, and I do love big, happy sea dogs. I should have gotten a photo of this beautiful dog but she was still happily rampaging around and I retreated back into the woods. Date: 4 November 2011, 09:33.
