Description: English: Four complete shells (with both valves) belonging to the family Veneridae; collected at Lagoinha Beach (praia da Lagoinha), Ubatuba, southeastern Brazil (April 22, 1994). The species represented in this image are: - Pitar fulminatus (Menke, 1828)[1]; in top, left. - Tivela mactroides (Born, 1778)[2]; in top, right. - Chione cancellata (Linnaeus, 1767)[3]; in bottom, left. - Lamelliconcha circinata (Born, 1778); during the 21th century named Pitar circinatus (Born, 1778)[4]; in bottom, right.
