Description :

Description: English: A potato plant growing in very acid soil. Aluminium toxicity has severely stunted the root system, restricting plant growth. The visible symptoms (stunted new growth and deformed, necrotic leaf tips) are probably due to calcium deficiency; aluminium toxicity limits calcium uptake by plants. The soil is highly weathered and naturally acid with a soil pH (KCl salt solution) of 3.79, pH (water) of 3.84, and acid saturation 75%. This was taken in a field demonstration for the 5th International Symposium on Soil Plant Interactions at Low pH (2001). Date: 2001. Source: Own work. Author: Alandmanson.
