Trachelomonas swimming rapidly

Description :

[taxonomy:genus=Trachelomonas] The "durian flagellate" Trachelomonas is an euglenid with a single thick flagellum emerging from a cell body that is surrounded by a spiny shell (lorica). The cell swims rapidly through the water. The swimming appears to be driven by a helical beating of the flagellum wound around the cell body.
