Description :
Jeniang, Kedah, Malaysia.Rind normally split into three-cloves along the natural fissures. Arils rather opaque and well-cladded, held pendulous by the fruit stalk; appealing taste - sweet with a tint of sour. Baccaurea macrocarpa (Miq.) Mll. Arg. Phyllanthaceae; also placed in Euphorbiaceae. CN: [Malay - Tampoi, Merkeh, Ngeke], Greater tampoi. Native to Malesia ecozone (Indonesia - Kalimantan, Sumatra and Malaysia). Forest understorey species; cauliflory. Fruit edible and sweet; quite a rarity and sold in the hinterland stalls during the fruiting seasons.Synonym(s):Baccaurea griffithii Hook. f.Pierardia macrocarpa Miq.Baccaurea borneensis Mll. Arg.
