A tree, 15 m. high, the twigs reddish-tomentose. Rachis of the leaf winged, bearing small sessile glands between the leaflets, pubescent; leaflets 3-5 pairs, oval to oblong, shortacuminate, 5-12 cm. long, glabrate above, pale and somewhat pubescent beneath; peduncles axillary, solitary or in pairs, 2-4 cm. long; flowers in short racemes; pedicels 3-15 mm. long; calyx 5-10 mm. long, brownish-pubescent; corolla about 12 mm. long, brownish-pubescent; stamens 5-6 cm. long, the tube included; legume elongated, 2.5 dm. long or longer, subterete, many-ribbed, the margins elevated.
TyPB LOCALITY : Cayenne.
Distribution: Guadeloupe; Dominica; Martinique; Trinidad; Colombia to French Guiana.
