Amblygaster sirm és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels clupèids.[5]

Descripció

  • Pot arribar a fer 27 cm de llargària màxima (normalment, en fa 20).
  • 13-21 radis tous a l'aleta dorsal i 12-23 a l'anal.[6][7][8]

Alimentació

Menja sobretot copèpodes, larves de bivalves i de gastròpodes, Peridinium i Ceratium.[6]

Hàbitat

És un peix marí, associat als esculls[9] i de clima tropical (35°N-28°S, 31°E-178°W) que viu entre 10 i 75 m de fondària.[10][6][11]

Distribució geogràfica

Es troba des del mar Roig[12][13] i Moçambic[14][15] fins a les illes Filipines, Taiwan, Okinawa (el Japó), Nova Guinea,[16][17] el mar d'Arafura,[18] el nord d'Austràlia[19][20] i Fiji.[6][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37][38][39][40][41][42][43][44][45][46][47][48][49][50][51][52][53][54][55][56][57]

Ús comercial

És emprat com a esquer en la pesca de la tonyina.[6][58]

Longevitat

La seua esperança de vida és de 8 anys.[12]

És inofensiu per als humans.[6]
