Lifespan, longevity, and ageing
tarjonnut AnAge articles
Maximum longevity: 60 years (captivity)
Observations: A flightless bird found only in New Zealand, the kakapo is the world's heaviest parrot and a highly endangered species (http://www.kakapo.net/). Due to its long life cycle and absence of natural predators, it is possible that the kakapo lives longer than 60 years. No ageing kakapo has been documented (http://www.kakaporecovery.org.nz/).
