La Tinamú de Bartlett ye una especie monotípica.^[3] Toles perdices son de la familia Tinamidae, y nel gran esquema tamién de les Ratitae. A diferencia d'otres aves corredores, les perdices pueden volar, anque polo xeneral nun son bones voladores. Toles aves corredores evolucionaron dende la prehistoria a les aves que vuelen, y les perdices son el pariente vivu más cercanu d'estes aves.^[4]

Etimoloxía

Crypturellus ta formáu por trés pallabres en llatín o griegu. Kruptos significa cubiertu o ocultu, oura significa cola y ellus significa diminutivu. Polo tanto Crypturellus significa pequeña cola oculta.^[5] Bartletti provién de la forma de Bartlett en llatín pa conmemorar a Edward Bartlett.

Distribución y hábitat

La Tinamú de Bartlett atopar nos banzaos y los montes de tierres baxes en rexones tropicales y subtropicales d'hasta 500 m (1.600 pies) d'altitú. Esta especie ye nativa al oeste de l'Amazonia brasileña, norte de Bolivia y este de Perú, en América del Sur.^[3] Tamién s'atopa nel este d'Ecuador.^[1]

Descripción

Ye d'aprosimao 27 cm (11 pulgaes) de llargor. Los sos partes cimeros son de color marrón y percima un barreteado negru, el gargüelu y el banduyu son de color blancu, el restu de les partes inferiores son acolorataos, los lladrales tienen barreteado negru, y la so corona ye corita.

Bartlett's tinamou (Crypturellus bartletti) is a type of tinamou found in lowland forest in South America.^[3]

Taxonomy

The Bartlett's tinamou is a monotypic species.^[3] All tinamou are from the family Tinamidae, and in the larger scheme are also ratites. Unlike other ratites, tinamous can fly, although in general, they are not strong fliers. All ratites evolved from prehistoric flying birds, and tinamous are the closest living relative of these birds.^[4]

Etymology

Crypturellus is formed from three Latin or Greek words. Kruptos meaning covered or hidden, oura meaning tail, and ellus meaning diminutive. Therefore, Crypturellus means small hidden tail.^[5] Bartletti comes from the Latin form of Bartlett to commemorate Edward Bartlett.

Range and habitat

Bartlett's tinamou is found in swamp and lowland forest in subtropical and tropical regions up to 500 m (1,600 ft) altitude. This species is native to western Amazonian Brazil, northern Bolivia, and eastern Peru, in South America.^[3] It is also found in eastern Ecuador.^[1] Over its range, it is considered uncommon.^[6]

Description

The Bartlett's tinamou is approximately 27 cm (11 in) in length. Its upperparts are brown above barred with black,^[7] throat and belly are white, remainder of underparts are rufous, flanks are barred black, and its crown is blackish.

Behavior

Like other tinamous, the Bartlett's eats fruit off the ground or low-lying bushes. They also eat small amounts of invertebrates, flower buds, tender leaves, seeds, and roots. The male incubates the eggs which may come from as many as 4 different females, and then will raise them until they are ready to be on their own, usually 2–3 weeks. The nest is located on the ground in dense brush or between raised root buttresses.^[4]

Conservation

The IUCN classify this tinamou as Least Concern,^[1] with an occurrence range of 1,600,000 km² (620,000 sq mi).^[8]

Bartlettov tinamu (lat. Crypturellus bartletti) je vrsta ptice iz roda Crypturellus iz porodice tinamuovki. Ime je dobio u znak sjećanja na engleskog ornitologa Edwarda Bartletta.

Rasprostranjenost

Živi u nizinskim šumama u subtropskim i tropskim regijama na nadmorskoj visini sve do 500 metara. Rasprostranjen je diljem Južne Amerike. Udomaćen je u zapadnom amazonijskom Brazilu, sjevernoj Boliviji, istočnom Peruu, i istočnom Ekvadoru.

Opis

Dug je oko 27 centimetara. Gornji dijelovi su smeđi, išarani crnkastim pjegama. Grlo i trbuh su bijeli, a ostatak gornjih dijelova je riđe boje. Kukma je crnkasta, baš kao i bokovi.

Hrani se plodovima s tla ili niskih grmova. Također se hrani i malom količinom manjih beskralježnjaka i biljnih dijelova. Mužjak inkubira jaja koja mogu biti od čak četiri različite ženke. Inkubacija obično traje 2-3 tjedna.

Voedsel

Voortplanting

Het mannetje paart met ongeveer vier vrouwtjes, die hun nest bouwen in het dichte struikgewas. Daarna broedt het mannetje de eieren uit en voedt hij de jongen op.

Voorkomen

De soort komt voor in het westen van het Amazoneregenwoud.^[1]
