Larus glaucescens, San Juan Islands, Washington state

Kuvaus:

Description: A Glaucous-winged Gull Larus glaucescens. Originally described as Thayer's Gull, Larus thayeri. "It was taken on one of the San Juan Islands, not 100% sure which one, but probably Orcas Island. The gull was generous enough to let me catch this excellent shot so that we could properly identify it from a book when we got home." From WikiProject Birds: Looks like a Glaucous-winged Gull. Thayer's Gull would have a paler bill and darker (black rather than dark grey) primary tips. It would also show a narrower white trailing edge to the wing.
