Description: Sterculiaceae (cacao family) » Kleinhovia hospita commonly known as: bataria teak, guest tree, kleinhovia, timanga tree Bengali: bola • Hindi: भोला bhola • Tamil: மரவகை maravakai, பூந்தேக்கு puntekku Origin: east Africa, southeast Asia.. flowers are pink, about 8 mm long, borne on panicles 20-40 cm long, terminating the branches. Fruit a rounded, 5-lobed, membranous capsule, 2-2.5 cm in diameter, loculicidally dehiscent, each locule 1-2-seeded. Seed globose, whitish, warty, exalbuminous. K. hospita flowers throughout the year. The fruits are more conspicuous than the flowers because of their abundance and size. Fruit production starts early, often in the third year after planting.
