Sivun Epigaea gaultherioides (Boiss.) Takht. kuva

Kuvaus:

Description: Apparently this species occurs naturally creeping around under Rhododendron ponticum which makes it sound like it should be an easy thing to grow but all accounts say otherwise. I offer these pictures to posterity and cross my fingers.. It occurred to me today that this is another plant with a bit of history for me. I first saw it (under its old name - Orphanidesia gaultherioides) in a big picture book in the local public library when I was just starting to take an interest in plants - when I was about 18. I had a bedroom full of house plants but I knew nothing about garden plants besides the obvious so this book was a bit of en eye-opener. I remember it had photos of Soldanella alpina, Shortia uniflora and Jeffersonia dubia too, so I suppose that was when I got hooked the 'less obvious' side of gardening. Date: 30 March 2011, 12:18.
